Bernard R. Ussery, Esq.
As head of Strategic Counsel PLC's litigation practice, Bernard Ussery assists the firm's clients in resolving high-profile, high-stakes business, real estate and tort disputes. His experience includes handling multi-million dollar litigation and arbitrations, and he has presented oral arguments before the Georgia Supreme Court. As a real estate entrepreneur, he blends his own experience and intricate knowledge of the industry to provide expert counsel to real estate developers and investors.
Previously, Mr. Ussery worked with the Los Angeles office of Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw & Pittman, LLP, and with the Los Angeles law firm of Winston & Strawn where he gained a reputation as a superior litigator. Subsequently, Mr. Ussery founded his own litigation, business and legal affairs firm, Ussery & Associates, specializing in counseling small businesses. Mr. Ussery is an acknowledged authority in non-disclosure, trade secret, operating and employment agreements. As a criminal prosecutor in Georgia, Mr. Ussery first-chaired more than 40 jury trials and more than 75 non-jury trials, gaining extensive law and motion as well as appellate experience.
Mr. Ussery earned his juris doctorate from the Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley, in 1991 and his bachelor's degree in history from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1988. He is also a graduate of the University of Southern California's Ross Program in Real Estate.
