Marci Aronovitz
Marci Aronovitz brings powerful insight to her role in Strategic Counsel’s consulting practice, resulting from a unique background that encompasses strategic planning, community outreach, program development and management, and policy advocacy and creation. She boasts specialized expertise in childhood education, health and nutrition advocacy initiatives.
In 2001, Ms. Aronovitz joined First 5 LA, the child advocacy organization created by California voters to invest tobacco tax revenue in programs that improve the lives of children in Los Angeles County. Ms. Aronovitz served as First 5 LA’s Program Officer III in the Program, Planning and Policy Department where she managed the Workforce Development portfolio. This includes the $15 million Early Care and Education (ECE) Workforce Initiative, Best Start LA Workforce Program and $7 million Countywide Workforce Strategy. Over the years, she also led other high-profile projects for First 5 LA, including the development and implementation of the Universal Preschool, Dental Health and Nutrition and Healthy Births Initiatives. Additionally, she participated as an integral member of several interdepartmental teams; served as liaison to First 5 California on two initiatives; and contributed to the development and adoption of two of the agency’s strategic plans.
Prior to First 5 LA, Ms. Aronovitz served as Program Specialist for the County Auditor Controller’s Office in the Audit Division. During this time, she was responsible for conducting program and management audits to assist county departments in improving their overall operations and programming. Ms. Aronovitz worked on audits for the Probation Department to assist with improving outcomes for at-risk youth at the department’s camps as well as the Department of Child and Family Services to improve outcomes for children and families involved in the Family Preservation Program.
Ms. Aronovitz is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego. She also graduated cum-laude with her master’s degree in public administration from the University of Southern California. Ms. Aronovitz is a member of the Association for Public Policy and Management (APPAM).
